Back Office > Administration > SQL Tools > Database Doctor > Language Translation
Description
This menu item is used for the setting up and translation to facilitate the use of multiple languages. Currently the following languages are supported :
The default Language will default to that configured for the Windows Region.
To Be Considered
- Note : Additional languages other than the ones listed above can be added. If this is required contact support for more information.
- SwiftPOS software supports the use of multiple languages and using the Language Setup steps outlined below can be easily implemented. However, when it comes to data related software elements (as opposed to software related elements) these will need to be translated as well. This can be achieved either manually or by using the Language Translation features available within the SwiftPOS software suite.
- Manually - This can be achieved throughout the software where the translate option is provided in the form of a Languages/Multi-Language button. Software elements enabling this option are : Product Descriptions, Product Notes, Categories, Product Groups, Master Groups, Print Groups, Families, Price Levels and POS Keys.
- Language Translation feature - This feature makes use of the Google Translate API for which a key will need to be obtained. For further information relating to this and the Language Translation feature click here.
Language Setup
Description
Before any of the Languages (listed in the Languages drop down menu above) can be activated, their associated language file will first need to be installed. To do this follow the steps outlined below for:
Language Setup SwiftPOS Back Office
- From SwiftPOS Back Office download the language file(s) required. To do this select the Supported Languages text. This can be accessed via : Back Office > About > Check for Web Updates > SwiftPOS Back Office / Touch >Details > Supported Languages.
- This will open the Language Support screen.
|
- Select OK.
- This will need to be done for both SwiftPOS Back Office and SwiftPOS Touch.
- When all the required language(s) have been selected, select the Updated Selected button in the SwiftPOS Software Updater screen to download the selected language files.
- When the update has completed, then in SwiftPOS Back Office select the Languages drop down menu and select one of the languages selected above. If all has been successfully installed then the SwiftPOS Back Office main menu screen should now appear in the language selected as shown in the example below.
Example of SwiftPOS Back Office main menu with the Language Chinese selected. |
If not, then more than likely the language file has not been downloaded, as the default language (that is, the Language configured for the Windows Region.) file will be used when the selected language file cannot be found. To correct this repeat the steps above ensuring the particular language is selected for SwiftPOS Back Office and SwiftPOS Touch.
Language Setup SwiftPOS Touch
- From the SwiftPOS Touch terminal ensure the Support Multiple Languages option is selected. This can be accessed via : Touch > Tools > Basic Tools > Terminal Settings > Clerks. Select this option and click OK.
- This should result in the Language menu button appearing in the top left of the screen, as seen below:
- Select this button. This will display a drop down list of the languages.
|
- Once a selection has been made the SwiftPOS Touch screen should now appear in the language selected as shown in the screenshot of the Tool bar below.
Note : To ensure SwiftPOS Touch POS Keys, as well as other SwiftPOS data elements appear in the language selected, then use of the SwiftPOS Language Translation feature will need to be made to achieve this, or this will need to be done manually. |
